What ages does Language Arts Academy accept?

Language Arts Academy welcomes children from 2 months through 7 years old, with additional age ranges available for selected enrichment, camp, and school-break programs. Placement is based on your child’s age, developmental needs, program availability, and classroom space.

What are your hours?

Language Arts Academy is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

What time should my child arrive?

Children should arrive no later than 10:00 AM. Consistent arrival helps children participate in the full learning routine and reduces interruptions once classroom activities are underway.

Do you offer year-round enrollment?

Yes. Enrollment is available year-round, depending on classroom availability. We can coordinate start dates with your family once enrollment requirements are complete.

Is Language Arts Academy a Spanish immersion school?

Yes. Spanish is naturally incorporated into children's daily experiences through conversation, songs, stories, movement, play, classroom routines, and hands-on activities.

Does my child need to speak Spanish?

No. Children can join our programs with little or no previous Spanish experience. Teachers introduce and reinforce the language naturally throughout the day.

Do you offer full-time and part-time schedules?

Yes. We offer different program and schedule options depending on your child's age and classroom availability. Please contact us to discuss the schedule that best fits your family's needs.

Do you provide meals and snacks?

No. Parents provide all meals, snacks, and beverages for their children.

Food should be appropriate for your child's age and clearly labeled when required. Families should inform the school of any food allergies or dietary restrictions.

What should my child bring each day?

Requirements vary by age, but children may need:

• Meals, snacks, and beverages

• Water bottle when age-appropriate

• Complete change of clothing

• Diapers and wipes when applicable

• Rest-time items when required

• Bottles/formula/breast milk for infants

• Weather-appropriate clothing

Please label personal belongings with your child's first and last name.

Do children wear uniforms?

Yes. Uniforms are required beginning at 18 months of age.

Infants younger than 18 months should wear soft, comfortable clothing that allows them to move, crawl, explore, and participate comfortably in daily activities.

What type of shoes should children wear?

Children who are walking should wear safe, closed-toe shoes suitable for classroom activities and outdoor play.

Do children go outside?

Yes, weather and conditions permitting. Outdoor experiences are an important part of children's physical development, exploration, movement, and play.

What happens if I am late picking up my child?

Please pick up your child by 6:00 PM. A late pick-up fee of $2 per minute, per child, begins at 6:01 PM.

Late fees apply consistently, as staff members must remain at the school beyond their scheduled working hours when a child has not been picked up.

How do you communicate with parents?

We believe open and consistent communication between families and teachers is essential. We keep parents informed about their child’s day, classroom activities, important reminders, upcoming events, and school updates.

Families can communicate with our team through phone, email, text messages, or in person. We encourage parents to reach out anytime they have questions, concerns, or important information to share about their child.

How much is tuition?

Tuition depends on your child's program, age, schedule, and enrollment option.

Because pricing and availability can change, we prefer to share current information directly with families.

When are tuition payments due?

Tuition payments are due every other Friday by 6 pm

Is there a late payment fee?

Yes.  A $25 late payment fee will be charged when tuition is not received by the required due date.

We encourage families to make payments on time to keep their account current and avoid additional fees.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept:

What is included in my first payment?

Your initial payment includes:

• Two-week deposit

• Two weeks of tuition

• Annual registration fee

• Material fee

To make enrollment easier for families, you may split the two-week deposit into two installments, if needed.

What is the two-week deposit for?

We collect the two-week deposit at enrollment and apply it toward your child's final two weeks of care, according to the terms of your enrollment agreement.

Do I still need to pay tuition if my child is absent?

Yes. Tuition is still due when your child is absent, including absences due to illness, vacations, appointments, or other personal reasons.

Tuition reserves your child’s space in the program, not only the days your child attends. Regular tuition payments are required to maintain enrollment and your child’s scheduled classroom space.

Do families receive vacation time?

Yes. After one full year of continuous enrollment, families are eligible for two weeks of vacation per year at a reduced tuition rate.

During these two vacation weeks, families receive a 50% discount on their regular tuition.

Vacation benefits are available after completing 12 consecutive months of enrollment and are subject to the school’s vacation policy.

Is the Spanish Immersion Program available year-round?

Yes. Enrollment is available year-round, based on space availability. Families may enroll at any time during the year.

How do I schedule a tour?

Contact Language Arts Academy by phone, email, or through our website to arrange a tour. We encourage families to visit, see our classrooms, learn about our programs, and ask questions before enrolling.

 

Discipline & Positive Guidance Policy

How does Language Arts Academy handle discipline?

At Language Arts Academy, discipline focuses on teaching, guiding, and helping children develop appropriate behavior rather than punishment. Our teachers use positive, age-appropriate guidance while considering each child’s developmental level.

Teachers may use positive reinforcement, redirection, clear and consistent expectations, modeling appropriate behavior, offering choices, problem-solving, and helping children identify and express their emotions appropriately.

What happens when a child displays challenging behavior?

When behaviors such as biting, hitting, kicking, pushing, spitting, throwing objects, damaging materials, refusing to follow classroom rules, or repeatedly disrupting the classroom occur, teachers will intervene and redirect the child while keeping everyone safe.

For repeated or concerning behaviors, parents will be informed so families and teachers can work together to identify possible triggers and develop consistent strategies at home and at school.

What happens if unsafe behavior continues?

If a behavior becomes repeated, severe, or creates a safety concern for the child, classmates, or staff, the school may request a meeting with the family and develop an individualized plan to address the behavior.

Depending on the circumstances and severity of the behavior, parents may also be asked to pick up their child from school.

If the school determines that it cannot safely meet a child's needs within the program despite reasonable efforts and collaboration with the family, continued enrollment may need to be reviewed.

Do you use physical punishment?

No. We do not use physical punishment, humiliation, threats, or other inappropriate forms of discipline. Guidance is provided in a respectful and developmentally appropriate manner.

How can parents help?

We ask families to reinforce positive expectations at home, including:

Keeping hands and feet to themselves • Listening to teachers • Using kind and respectful words • Taking care of classroom materials • Following classroom rules • Learning appropriate ways to express frustration and emotions

Consistency between home and school helps children understand expectations and develop positive social-emotional and self-regulation skills.

 

Sick Child & Health Policy

When should my child stay home from school?

To protect the health of all children and staff, please keep your child home when they show signs of illness or may be contagious. Children should not attend school with symptoms such as:

• Fever

• Vomiting or diarrhea

• Persistent or severe coughing

• Unusual difficulty breathing

• Eye infection or significant eye discharge

• Skin infection or unexplained/bad rash

• Symptoms of a contagious illness

• Significant pain or discomfort

• Unusual tiredness or weakness

• Not feeling well enough to comfortably participate in normal classroom activities

What happens if my child becomes sick at school?

If your child becomes ill or develops symptoms that require them to leave school, a parent or authorized person must pick up the child within one hour of being contacted.

If we cannot reach a parent or guardian, we will contact the emergency contacts listed in the child's file.

Can my child return to school the following day?

A child who is sent home because of illness may not return to school the following day. The child should remain home until they meet the school's return requirements and are well enough to participate comfortably in regular classroom activities.

Depending on the illness or symptoms, the school may request medical clearance from a healthcare provider before the child returns.

Can I give my child medicine before school and bring them anyway?

Medication should not be used simply to mask symptoms so that a sick child can attend school. For example, a child with a fever should not be given fever-reducing medication solely so they can attend.

If your child requires medication for a medical reason, please speak with the school regarding our medication procedures and required authorization.

Why is the sick policy important?

Young children share classrooms, toys, learning materials, and play spaces, so illnesses can spread quickly. Keeping sick children home helps protect your child, other children, their families, and our teachers.

We appreciate families informing the school when their child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness or infection so we can take appropriate precautions while respecting the child's privacy.

Enrollment & Getting Started

How do I enroll my child?

First, contact Language Arts Academy or schedule a visit. We can discuss your child's age, the program you are interested in, schedule needs, classroom availability, and enrollment requirements.

Is enrollment guaranteed after a tour?

No. Enrollment depends on available classroom space and completion of required enrollment documents and fees.

What information will I need to provide?

Families will be asked to complete the required enrollment and authorization forms and provide health, emergency contact, vaccination information, pickup, and other information required for their child's care.

Can someone other than a parent pick up my child?

Only individuals who have been properly authorized by the parent or guardian may pick up a child. Identification may be required.

Can I visit before enrolling?

Yes. We encourage prospective families to visit Language Arts Academy so they can see the environment, learn about our programs, and determine whether our school is a good fit for their child and family.

Infant Program

What ages are accepted in the Infant Program?

Our Infant Program welcomes babies beginning at 2 months old.

Can my infant enroll at any time during the year?

Yes. Infant enrollment is available year-round based on classroom availability.

How do you help infants feel secure?

Our caregivers focus on developing warm, responsive, and consistent relationships with each baby. Familiar routines, individual attention, and responsive caregiving help infants develop trust and feel comfortable in their classroom.

What does my baby do during the day?

Infants participate in developmentally appropriate experiences including:

• Tummy time and movement

• Sensory exploration

• Music and songs

• Books and early literacy

• Fine-motor exploration

• Teacher-child interaction

• Age-appropriate toys and materials

• Early communication experiences

Activities are adjusted according to each baby's developmental stage rather than expecting every infant to follow the same developmental schedule.

How do you support infant language development?

Teachers talk to babies throughout the day, describe what they are doing, sing songs, read books, imitate sounds, use gestures and eye contact, and respond to infants' vocalizations and cues.

These back-and-forth interactions help establish the foundations for communication and language development.

How do you provide a safe environment for active infants?

Teachers remain attentive and close to infants as they explore their environment. Age-appropriate toys, movement areas, sensory materials, and carefully arranged classroom spaces allow babies to practice developing skills in a supervised setting.

How are infants fed?

Infants are fed according to parent or guardian instructions and their individual feeding routines.

Parents must provide all breast milk, formula, baby food, meals, and other foods their infant needs while at school.

Can I breastfeed my baby at the school?

Nursing parents are welcome to visit during the day to breastfeed their infant.

What should I send for my infant?

Please provide three complete changes of clothing, including socks, along with the appropriate daily supply of prepared and clearly labeled breast milk or formula.

If your baby eats solids, parents must also provide the necessary baby food, cereal, meals, and snacks.

Please label bottles, containers, clothing, and personal belongings with your child's name.

What should my infant wear?

Soft, comfortable clothing that allows your baby to move and explore freely is best. Infants do not need to wear the school uniform until 18 months of age.

What ages are in the Toddler Program?

Our toddler classrooms are organized according to children's ages and developmental stages. Contact us for current classroom placement and availability.

What does a typical toddler day include?

Toddlers participate in a balanced routine that can include Spanish language experiences, hands-on activities, music and movement, stories, learning centers, sensory exploration, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and small-group activities.

The developmental material you provided emphasizes movement, classroom exploration, small-group learning, and outdoor experiences as important parts of the toddler day.

How do toddlers learn Spanish?

Teachers introduce Spanish naturally throughout the day through conversations, vocabulary, songs, stories, directions, classroom routines, pictures, objects, and play.

How do you encourage toddler independence?

Teachers give children age-appropriate opportunities to make choices, participate in routines, care for belongings, practice self-help skills, and complete simple tasks independently.

Do you help with potty training?

Yes. When a child shows readiness, teachers can work with families to support toilet learning through consistent routines, reminders, encouragement, and positive reinforcement. Consistency between home and school is particularly important during this stage.

What if my toddler has separation anxiety?

Separation anxiety is common during early childhood. Teachers use consistent routines, reassurance, redirection, and relationship-building to help children feel comfortable in their classroom and with their caregivers.

What should toddlers bring?

Parents should send meals, snacks, drinks, two complete changes of clothing, diapers and wipes when applicable, and any required rest-time items.

Preschool & Pre-K

What ages are served in Preschool and Pre-K?

Classroom placement depends on age and developmental readiness. Our Pre-K program is primarily designed for children ages 4–5.

What will my child learn in Pre-K?

Our program supports development in areas such as:

• Early literacy and phonics

• Vocabulary and communication

• Early writing

• Numbers and early mathematics

• Fine-motor development

How does Pre-K prepare children for Kindergarten?

Pre-K also emphasizes independence, self-regulation, early literacy, and problem-solving as children prepare for the transition to Kindergarten.

Is your program only academic?

No. Academic readiness is important, but young children also need social-emotional skills, communication, independence, confidence, creativity, movement, and opportunities to learn through play.

Do I need to provide school supplies?

Most everyday classroom learning materials are provided by the school. Teachers may occasionally request specific items for projects, special activities, or events.

What should my Pre-K child bring?

Parents should provide meals, snacks, beverages, a change of clothing, and any other classroom-specific items the teacher requests.

 

Kindergarten

Do you offer a Kindergarten program?

Yes. Language Arts Academy offers a Kindergarten option designed to continue building academic skills, independence, confidence, communication, and Spanish language development.

What areas are included in Kindergarten?

Children participate in developmentally appropriate experiences involving reading and literacy, writing, mathematics, science, language development, problem-solving, social-emotional learning, creativity, and Spanish.

Is your Kindergarten program Spanish immersion?

Spanish remains an important part of the learning environment, allowing children to continue developing vocabulary, comprehension, and communication through everyday experiences.

How do you prepare children for elementary school?

Our goal is to help children build both academic foundations and the classroom skills they need for their next educational environment—including independence, listening, following directions, problem-solving, communication, and confidence.

 

Spanish Afterschool Program

What is the Spanish Afterschool Program?

Our Spanish Afterschool Program gives school-age children an opportunity to continue learning and practicing Spanish in an engaging environment outside their regular school day.

Does my child already need to speak Spanish?

No. Children can participate at different levels of Spanish experience.

What do children do in Spanish Afterschool?

Activities may include conversation, vocabulary, reading, games, music, cultural experiences, hands-on activities, and age-appropriate language practice.

Homeschool Spanish Program

What is the Homeschool Spanish Program?

Our Homeschool Spanish Program is a twice-a-week enrichment program designed for homeschool families who want their children to develop Spanish naturally through engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.

What days does my child attend?

Families may choose the two days of the week that work best for their schedule, based on program availability.

What are the program hours?

The Homeschool Spanish Program is offered from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, twice a week.

What do children learn?

Children learn Spanish through a combination of:

• Conversation and everyday vocabulary

• Songs, music, and movement

• Stories and early literacy

Does my child need to know Spanish before enrolling?

Do you offer Drop-In Care?

Yes. Drop-In Care is available for families who need care without committing to a traditional full-time schedule.

Is Drop-In Care available every day?

Drop-In Care is based on classroom space and availability. Families should contact us before bringing their child to confirm that a space is available.

Does my child need to bring food?

Yes. Parents must provide all meals, snacks, and beverages needed while their child is at Language Arts Academy.

Does the uniform policy apply to Drop-In students?

Open Play

What is Open Play?

Open Play provides children with an opportunity to play, explore, socialize, and enjoy age-appropriate activities in a child-friendly environment.

Is Open Play the same as preschool?

No. Open Play is not a replacement for our regular preschool curriculum. It is designed as a more flexible play and social experience.

Do I need to reserve a space?

Availability may be limited, so families should contact us before attending to confirm the current Open Play schedule and space availability.

What should my child bring?

Please bring any food, snacks, drinks, and personal items your child will need during the scheduled session.

Summer, Spring Break &

School Break Camps

What camps does Language Arts Academy offer?

We offer special programs throughout the year, including:

What ages can attend camp?

Our Summer Camps, Spring Break Camps, and School Break Programs are designed for children ages 3 to 8.

What do children do during camp?

Our camps combine fun, learning, creativity, and Spanish exposure through arts and crafts, science experiments, music and movement, games, dramatic play, outdoor activities, hands-on projects, and special experiences.

Each camp is built around exciting themes that may change daily or weekly, giving children opportunities to explore new topics, create different projects, discover new interests, and enjoy a fresh adventure throughout camp.

Are all camp weeks the same?

No. Camp themes and activities can change from week to week, giving children new experiences throughout the season.

Do parents provide food during camp?

Yes. Parents provide all meals, snacks, water, and beverages their child will need.

Can I register for only one week of Summer Camp?

Camp enrollment options vary by season. Contact us for current schedules, available weeks, registration requirements, and space availability.  Families may register for one or multiple available camp sessions, subject to space availability

Are camp spaces limited?

Yes. Camp enrollment is subject to availability, and some weeks may fill earlier than others.
